Working Together to Strengthen the Community

When Newberry County nonprofits come together to share strategies for charitable giving, the kind and generous spirit of our community shines through. I experienced that energy firsthand in February when I cohosted the Newberry Nonprofit Thank You Luncheon with the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce and Thrivent Community Engagement Leader Katrina Jorgensen.

Nonprofit organizations joined us at the luncheon to explore ways to make a bigger impact locally. As a Thrivent financial advisor, I talked about the importance of tax strategies for efficient giving. Not only can tax strategies help nonprofits, they may also help donors like you maximize your charitable contributions.

Katrina spoke about Thrivent resources that can help organizations and individuals stretch their giving goals and reach new volunteers. Thrivent Action Teams and Thrivent Choice® are two programs that can make a difference.

Thrivent Action Teams enable Thrivent clients with membership to gather a team for a fundraiser, educational event or service activity in their community. Thrivent provides the resources to get them started—including up to $250 in seed money. Clients can lead up to two action teams per year.

Thrivent Choice allows eligible clients to direct some of Thrivent’s charitable funds to organizations enrolled in the Thrivent Choice Catalog. Plus, clients can make fee-free donations to any of the 45,000 organizations enrolled, so 100% of their donations go directly to the causes they select.

The event was also a great opportunity for nonprofit representatives to build relationships with each other and collaborate to address the needs of our community. Thrivent asked every participant to deepen one relationship and identify one action step they could take to support another organization's mission.

To the nonprofit staff, volunteers and supporters throughout our community who give their time and treasures to help others—thank you. We truly appreciate all the ways you care for, entertain, empower and inspire Newberry County residents.

Now is a great time to explore how Thrivent may be able to help you develop a charitable giving strategy, achieve financial clarity and live a life full of meaning and gratitude. Want to learn more? Call 803-768-4696 and ask for me, Robert Kopp, or visit connect.thrivent.com/robert-kopp.
