Special needs and challenges in developing a full and well-rounded life affect many children and young adults in ways not everyone can understand. Patrick and Jenny Bowers knew this and wanted to make a change with a positive impact. This led to the founding of The Screaming Eagles Special Needs Organization in 2017.
The Screaming Eagles is a 501-3c organization that has been blessed with support and donations from the community. These supporters and donations have made Patrick and Jenny’s dreams become a reality.
Patrick and Jenny are the parents of 3 amazing children - Aly, 21, a Senior at Clemson University, Chandler, 20, a Junior at Clemson University, and Brayden, 15. Brayden has Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Epilepsy, and Global Development Delays. The Screaming Eagles look to him as inspiration for the start of the organization.
Wanting a place for Brayden to “belong,” Patrick and Jenny created a place where he and others like him could go and not be judged for their disabilities, but rather praised for what awesome people they are. Kids, teens, and young adults gather at local partnering schools to have fun, learn new skills, and make new friends. The Screaming Eagles are currently in the process of building their own facility, “The Nest”.
The Nest will provide a space for not only the youths but also their families. The facility is planned to have spaces for hands-on farming and animal care, daily activity and therapy, indoor and outdoor sports, camping and hiking, and even treehouses accessible for everyone regardless of age or abilities.
The Screaming Eagles believe that there is no limit to having fun, learning new skills, and making new friends. For more information, check out The Screaming Eagles Facebook page.
