Newberry Yoga: Two Amazing Women

Writer's picture: Hello NewberryHello Newberry

By Janet Mannel

A business owned by two amazing women, Jane Wyatt and Susan Wessinger, who own Newberry Yoga. They met in their first yoga teacher training in 2008 and set an intention to one day open a yoga studio together. In 2018, they saw that intention to its fruition and opened Newberry Yoga at 1121 Caldwell Street, in the heart of downtown Newberry.

Despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic, which caused many yoga studios to close their doors, Newberry Yoga has continued to remain open, continuing to offer the practice of yoga - not just in the studio, but online through Zoom, too.

Jane and Susan of Newberry Yoga are integral to Newberry’s thriving yoga community. They are both Yoga Alliance 500 hour Professional Level Registered Yoga Teachers and Continuing Education Providers. These designations involve significant training, study, and experience. We are so fortunate that they actively offer their expertise in our community. Yoga has and will likely continue to be proven to provide countless benefits to a person’s health, and not just on a personal level, but beyond as well, to their families and the larger communities where they live.

I completed the studio’s 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2020 and began leading a weekly studio class in January 2021. In getting a behind-the-scenes look, I am amazed at what they have been able to accomplish over the past three years. Staying in business in a pandemic has been challenging for many.
