Newberry County Library Gives Back!

Starting the holiday season off with two amazing events that helps all of Newberry County Areas.

Food for Fines

Food for Fines is a fee amnesty and food drive program for the Newberry County Library System. It will run from December 9th to December 20th, 2022.The initiative is offered as a goodwill effort to help the community reduce barriers to the library use, and increase access to library materials.

During these two weeks, library fines and overdue materials will be forgiven in exchange for donations of dry or canned food items, hygiene and baby products, packaged pet food, gloves, and hats.

Donations will be accepted at each of the Newberry County Library System branches. The branches are located in downtown Newberry and Whitmire County, please come during regular hours. Each unopened, unexpired item will equate to 1 dollar forgiven for overdue library fines. There are no limits to the number of donations per person, though fines cannot be forgiven for library items that are lost or damaged.

Those without fines are also encouraged to donate items as each item will be used anonymously to forgive another patron's fines. Donations will not be credited towards future fees.

All domnations will be sent to local food banks and charities in Newberry County!

Food Distribution

Non-perishable meal boxes will be available for families! Boxes will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
