The Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board is excited to announce that Kelly Hughes has joined the team as Marketing and Communications Manager.

Hughes graduated from the University of South Carolina in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Media Arts. Hughes is passionate about local journalism and connecting with people through creative mediums.

As a student, Hughes served as an Article Writer, Assistant Articles Editor, and “Happening” Articles Editor for the student-run publication, Garnet & Black Magazine. She worked as Editorial Intern for COLAtoday throughout 2022 and was promoted to Southeast Regional Editorial Intern for the parent company, 6AM City. Most recently, she had the role of Marketing & Communications Intern with MUSC Health Midlands Division.

“I’m honored to be working with the remarkable Lake Murray Country team. I am excited to communicate with both locals and visitors about what this amazing region has to offer,” said Hughes. Hughes, originally from Long Valley, New Jersey, moved to Columbia for school and is thrilled to call the Palmetto State her home.

"We are excited to welcome Kelly to our team and grow our Marketing department. We can't wait to see the results of her creativity," stated Miriam Atria, President/CEO, of Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism.
