He has a Heart The Size of The World Itself!

By Desiree Monts

Dalton Monts has been a Newberry native his whole life. He is 24 years old and has a heart the size of the world itself. Dalton is a mildly autistic adult that is highly functioning. One thing about Dalton is that he is INFATUATED with cars! His love for cars goes back to him growing up in the shop with his great grandfather, Noah Derrick as well as his great uncle, Chuck Meadows.

He ended up completing the auto mechanic class at Newberry County Career Center and graduated in ‘17. From there he worked at Stokes Trainor and then was blessed with an opportunity at Kneece’s Car Care. But his heart? It’s dedicated to his lowered Tahoe that he rides around Newberry in, as he’s put loads of money into it, making sure that his old school Tahoe is the “talk of the town.” Of course, he can go on and on more about his Tahoe to you, but his heart is dedicated to helping others, and his girlfriend of 6 years, Deanna Meade. If you ever need a helping hand, you best believe Dalton is up for the challenge, from advice on how to fix your vehicle yourself, to helping you if you are broken down on the side of the road, or if you want him to give a helping hand on the weekends with your vehicle.

If Dalton isn’t working on a vehicle, you best believe he will be with his girlfriend Deanna any chance he can get. From yearly checkups in Memphis, Tennessee, weekend trips to the beach, or spending time with their loved ones. These two are high school sweethearts from Newberry County that grew up as childhood friends. Dalton plans on continuing to work for Kneece’s Car Care and continuing to do what he loves with his co-workers; he cannot wait to see what the future has in store for him. If you ever see Dalton around Newberry, do not hesitate to stop and talk to him. He is super friendly and loves to meet new people, and who knows, you may learn something you’ve never known about your vehicle!
