As the Autumn air begins to cool down for the holidays, we bundle up in hopes to keep warm against the winter winds. But, just because it's chilly outside it doesn't mean our style can't be hot. Newberry Now's very own, Sydney Mitcham, has been serving serious looks this season and we have to give credit where it's due.
Meet Sydney Mitcham, a marketing student at Newberry College and Brand Ambassador here at EMILY Marketing. Originally from Chapin, South Carolina, Sydney has brought her fashion forward ways to Newberry and we love it. She's wanted to fulfill her dream of becoming a fashion blogger and stylist for quite some time, and she's finally realizing it.
Being out on her own at the college gave her a chance to really explore who she was, giving form to her unique style. After accepting a job at EMILY Revolutionary Marketing Group, things only looked up for the budding stylist. While working at EMILY, Sydney has learned lots of new skills that have prepared her for the start of her fashion journey, like photography and editing skills, content writing practice, as well as practicing with pre-scheduled posting - a big helper in maintaining a strong social media presence.
Of the time at EMILY, Sydney says, "I have grown so much by working here, and the confidence I have in myself has increased tremendously. I no longer doubt that I 'can't' do something, I know now I just have to figure out 'how'... This is my passion. It takes heart and hard work to see it through, and this company has helped me immensely."
To really kick off her career as a stylist, Sydney joined LIKEtoKNOW.it, a network for influencers to share their looks and attach links to exact, or similar, products for aspiring fashionistas to find. The app is simple: follow stylists and, if you see a look you love, find the items' links below the picture to go directly to the site and purchase! It's a simple process and is super convenient for the user. Not only that, but as a verified LIKEtoKNOW.it influencer, Sydney receives a small commission for each item purchased through her links to help jump start her career!
Sydney loves fall and winter fashion because of the fun aspect of layering - not to mention everything is so cozy! She says her favorite trends this fall are "teddy jackets and coats, flare jeans, faux leather leggings, snakeskin boots, and popcorn sweaters."
If trendier items are a little out of your comfort zone, Sydney always has a rule for style:
"Wear what is YOU! Just because you see someone else rocking an outfit, doesn't mean you have to if it doesn't fit your personality. Always be true to yourself and wear what you feel confident in!"
