Celebrating Juneteenth in Style!

The Third Annual Newberry Juneteenth will be held on June 17, 2023 from 10am to 4pm

This year’s event proudly welcomes The Town of Prosperity as not only a sponsor of the event, but as a partner. As the event states, “All are welcome to Celebrate Freedom at Newberry Juneteenth.

Learn the history, share the stories, taste the food, hear the music, and see the talent of our community. We welcome all to come and celebrate.”

The Juneteenth event was brought to life by a seven member committee in 2020. The committee recognized that this may have been many of our citizens’ first experience with a Juneteenth event, so it was important that they fully explain the history of this Freedom Day in our American history.

The City of Newberry is grateful for the opportunity the committee has brought us. And with this festival, we are bringing their vision to life. The festival will feature an entertainment stage, food court, vendors, children’s activities, and artworks that highlight the talent of Newberry.

We hope to see all of Newberry come out to the festival to celebrate a day that marks the end of a bleak chapter of American history, and the dawn of a new era of freedom.
